Job Description
Use your Occupational Therapy knowledge within the mental health sector to support people with everyday living and promote independence
What we offer | Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou
The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
Our Occupational Therapist is the go-to person across Pathways' services in Nelson and Marlborough, covering adult and youth services in supported residential settings. Our OT is also there for the awesome tāngata whai ora living in their own homes in the community with mental health and/or addiction challenges, and often, they're juggling some physical health conditions too.
So, what does an OT do in this role? It's all about supporting our tāngata whai ora to thrive independently. Picture this: you're helping them set up their day, from planning meals, shopping for groceries, and cooking up some magic, to keeping their space clean and cozy, navigating public transport like a pro, getting ready for work, and mastering the art of being medication independent. As we are committed to holistic wellbeing, you might also be running activity groups, and supporting tāngata whai ora with their physical and mental health goals such as exercising, becoming smokefree, and mindfulness.
It's not just a job; it's making a positive impact on real people's lives. If you're up for being a friendly guide on this journey, let's chat. Together, we can make a difference!
This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week in Nelson, however we will consider other arrangements for the right person. A contribution to relocation costs within NZ can be discussed with the manager.
