Job Description

  • Casual varied work at two Adult Residential locations, Waihi & Thames.
  • Shifts cover 24/7 or 7:00am-3:30pm/2:00pm-10:30pm, Monday-Sunday.
  • Ongoing training and support in your role and career.

We have an opportunity for casual support workers who have the passion and drive to support people in recovery from mental health and addictions.

The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

Reporting to the Team Coach, our casual roles provide cover for permanent Support Workers - the hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available. Working across two different sites, Waihi and Thames.

If this sounds like you? Here are some of the responsibilities required of you:

  • Support people connect back with their community
  • Support with cooking, cleaning, gardening and helping with everyday household tasks
  • Assisting with budgeting and independent daily living
  • Medication support where required
  • Attending appointments and advocating for the people we support

You | Mōu

  • A current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • A current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
  • Hold either the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognised equivalent) or be willing commence study towards this qualification within six months of starting with us. We offer our staff significant support to complete this study.
  • Experience in working with young people and an understanding of trauma-informed care.
  • Able to be flexible and available for varying shifts.
  • Both de-escalation skills and relationship building skills.
